Benefits of Soil Restructuring and Subsoiling in Dry Conditions

With current soil conditions and temperatures following the extremely wet and cold spring conditions earlier in the year focus is certainly on their effect on the soil structure, compaction and opportunities for restructuring agriculture's biggest asset.

In many areas the heavier soil types are experiencing natural cracking which will enable the opportunity for effective lifting and loosening of the soil profile with the subsoiler.

Both the Kverneland Flatliner and DTX are fitted with the Pro-Lift tines providing flexibility with 3 wing options for the optimum disturbance in wet or dry and varying compaction depths.

DTX

This year we are noticing that many areas are experiencing serious shallow compaction following the wet spring and recent high temperatures and it is more important than ever that the correct working depth is established prior to restructuring and the most suitable tines and wing options fitted.

This is also enhanced with the option of the Low Disturbance Tine option available for the Flatliner and DTX.

It is also essential that the surface profile is left weatherproof and safe after subsoiling which can be achieved across all conditions with the DD Ring roller fitted to the Flatliner & DTX.

Hints & Tips:

  • Establish where any compaction is located within the profile
  • Select appropriate tines and wings for correct depth of work
  • Carry out regular checks to ensure effectiveness
  • Make sure restructuring is not compromised by component wear
  • Ensure you have the correct consolidation for soil type and depth
